Interpreters Wanted

Interpreters Wanted

It’s been three years since the fall of Afghanistan back into Taliban control. It has left veterans feeling betrayed and helpless as the Taliban parade around our equipment, spend billions of our dollars, and hunt down our Afghan allies.

Interpreters Wanted is a story about the bond between U.S. Army veteran Robert Ham and his interpreters, brothers Saifullah and Ismail Haqmal. It’s a story about the bond between a soldier and an ally. It’s a story about betrayal, broken promises, and incompetence. The story follows the brothers from their childhood growing up during the Russian/Afghan war, through the Taliban era, then the invasion by NATO forces after 9/11. They spent over a decade serving alongside their American allies. Their story takes them from Combat Outpost Sabari to FOB Salerno, all the way to Abbey Gate at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan with never before seen footage of the attack on Abbey Gate from the POV of the civilians in line.
