After looking through the threads I only really saw one thing on here related to the National guard and it was 2 years ago. I’m unsure if it was referring too the Reserves or National Guard, but I think there is a gold mine of content that can come from the Army National Guard.
My idea would almost be a mix/along the lines of “The Shop” and “Meanwhile in the field”. I come from the 48th IBCT out of Atlanta, GA as an 11B Squad leader. There are a few fun things about us on Army WTF...but it adds a whole new audience to your ranks. It will allow the National Guard community a way to better relate to your content you provide. In the National Guard there is an additional element to not only juggling the Military, but the civilian aspect at the same time and flip flopping between the two. I know from my experience, trying to manage a Squad of Joes while working a full time job and having a family is not easy. You have your kids, and then you have your other “kids” for a weekend. You have to get the mandatory training done, like weapons qual or SRP, and you only get to see these guys for 2-4days a month. To make things even more fun, you have keep your employer at your civilian job happy with the constantly changing Drill weekend dates changing and the drill weekend for a month being the last weekend of the month and the next drill is the first weekend of the next month.
I just feel like it could be a great idea, but I need help getting it on “paper”. The series “Meanwhile in the field” is great! The battle drill 1 Alpha bit was a wonderful example of the Guard in a nutshell. On top of that we have Cadets who are about to commission as officers who shadow Lts. If anything it will expand your audience as well as give the Active community another thing to laugh at. I get it we are only part time and don’t sacrifice the same things Active duty does, but at the same time we have our own struggles that are different.
TLDR: I had an idea about a show featuring the Army National Guard and the struggles balancing both the military and civilian jobs.
Thanks.
