I’ve watched most episodes of most shows (no Grunts Life or Team BAMF yet), and I notice the lingo/language is VERY USMC, and not very US Army. I’m 16 years in and still serving in the US Army; I’ve moved into the “old guy” territory. A couple of specifics: No Soldier, young or old, says “Boot” when referring to a new guy. They’re an “FNG’ maybe, or they’re a “fuzzy,” because of the blank velcro patch on their chest because E1 wears no rank insignia. To Soldiers, it’s not “boot camp;” it’s “Basic.” Back in Basic... etc, etc. The other glaring term I caught a couple times was “cammies.” No Soldier calls their uniform “Cammies,” that’s a USMC thing. They’re “ACUs.” That’s what all Soldiers calls their uniform. Before, it was “BDUs,” but that’s been awhile. Never has it been “Cammies” in the GWOT era.
